Re: log: david/aiden
When whatever was left of the dead men passed beyond the veil, the Revenant relaxed, slightly. There was no question that he would chalk this encounter up to a freak of his imagination tomorrow, or another strange vision in a long parade. In a given night, he was just as likely to see Molly as he was to see what was directly in front of him, and she was the lightest and best of the things that encroached at the corner of his eye.
The freaks of the moment, the quirks of the encounter, they only added to the illusion. It was almost amusing that the reaper sucked the blood from his thumb like a smear of cake frosting.
His curiosity flickered and faded like a candle flame. "No," he said, though his interest had burned hot just moments before. Wherever she might be, she was at his side, most nights. Whether she was real, or the reaper was real, or neither were real, he didn't want to hear another version of the story. His interest turned on heel and turned to studied ignorance. Better not to know.
He stepped around the reaper, until he was standing between him and the front door. Better to make his exit now, before the authorities arrived. And on the slim chance that this creature had a higher power to appeal to, he wasn't going to press his luck.
"I hope you like your employment," he said. "I will be giving you work."
