[Jack had a set of first impressions. Height, that was definitely one of them. He was eye-line to eye-line. Youth, obviously. Anger, and he was busy absorbing that when the book flew at him. He didn't dodge, he didn't react quickly enough to dodge. Stunned, actually, by the fact that the boy-man looked nothing like Cat and yet a little, if you squinted. Angry, but he'd expected angry.
The book caught him. Full in the face, the corner caught just below his eye and it smacked him sharply in the nose. Force, rather than weight, and his nose stung as the book fell. Jack swore, dark and immediate, and his hand went up.]
