"See I've gone and done that thing where I say the wrong thing," Ren grinned, taking her teasing in good stride and bemused by it. "I'm going to be all nerves when it comes the time, because surely I'm going to make a mess of it."
Although he didn't think he would, really. Yes, he might have been nervous asking Louis for a second date. Perhaps the other man hadn't enjoyed the evening as much as he had, but once it was done, he found himself less nervous. There was room for something to happen there, and there was room perhaps for just friendship as well, but whether it became more than that or not, the truth was that he had felt at ease that night for the most part. Louis had been easy enough to talk to and he'd enjoyed himself. A second date shouldn't be so complicated. The complicated pieces would come if it should become something where he'd need to talk about who his parents were and his history, and a hundred other things that weren't so easy to talk about, and felt like the sort of thing that he could be rejected over.
The idea of theatre was quite a bit more interesting to talk to although he was in no way ready to the level of excitement that Hannah was pulling up. "See, that's perfect," he smiled, reaching for the water once more. "That's exactly the sort of thing this would need if I were going to get it off the ground, although I don't know if I'm to the point where I could actually, you know, offer anyone any money to do it - so don't quit your coffee and ordering things job."
He played with the edge of the napkin, chewing his lower lip as he thought for a moment before speaking. "I don't really know Eddie. And I don't know if this would be the sort of thing my date would be interested in, well, maybe behind the scenes. I think before we plan an entire Broadway-style number, it might be better to start with something small and intimate, although venue is a bit of a problem. I think a warehouse might be too large. I might be able to do something at the shop... but it'd be very small - more almost like a reading."
