Re: [restaurant; ren & hannah]
Hannah batted her eyelashes at him in a really false way, and it was obvious she was teasing when she spoke: "Do you not really want to say the right thing about me? I'm hurt. I think I'm Isabella Linton and your blind date is Cathy." She couldn't keep the tease out of her smile, her enjoyment in playing with him, and of course she wasn't really offended at all.
She listened while he ordered, head tipped and gears turning, memorizing without even realizing it was data storage, and then she looked back at him as he spoke about clothing. "Just make sure you wear a jacket. I think the jacket says you're trying a little, but not that you're trying too much." She nodded. Ren was handsome in a really unconventional way, and she didn't think he had to do very much at all to be appealing to the mystery man he was courting.
"I'm wonderful at managing details. What I do right now is office management. I mean, it's mainly serving coffee and ordering things, but I do have a lot of scientists to order things for, and they all like different types of coffee." It wasn't the same, but she didn't think it could be that hard, and the idea of being involved in something creative appealed to her in a way that felt like dreams brought down close enough to the ground that she could reach for them. It was silly, maybe, but she'd never had anything whimsical, not like books and theater, not until now.
"And we can always find someone to deal with bigger things, if we need to. I know some people, but I don't know if any of them would be right, but I promise we can find people in town to help. Do you know Eddie? You should ask him to help. He ran the carnival, and he runs the arcade, and he's really theatrical." Her face was bright and illuminated with interest. Hannah was a little like a rock rolling downhill, and she was gathering momentum with elbows on the table and her body leaning forward. "Maybe your blind date can even help."
