And that other dinner might turn into something too.
Or that might be a bit too much to ask of his luck. Ren didn't want to get his hopes too high after all, because in the past few years of his life, he'd had enough of things falling to the ground. About the only good thing that might have happened to him was the fact that somehow, miraculously his parents either hadn't discovered he was living a few hours from them, or hadn't cared enough to look. This was saving him from having to deal with nonsense about how he was using his magical talent, whether he was taking his training seriously (he wasn't), and when he would get a real job. Making lattes was a real job, at least, it seemed likely to count as a real job for those who wanted lattes.
When he saw Hannah, he raised his hand at her and started towards her so that they could meet in front of the restaurant door.
"I hope it wasn't too difficult to find," he told her with a smile.
