"I think I might like being messy," Hannah said. Maybe and might, and she'd never considered it, and so she wasn't sure. For Hannah, life was a whir of tick-tock gear consideration. To others, this probably appeared strange, and she knew that. She was a strange girl being strange, nibbling on little fondant balls in a store. It was kind of wonderful.
"I don't need it to look like the real thing," she said after that walk and the turn to all-business. "Something pretty and strong," she said, unabashedly as she stopped in front of the wall of offerings. She glanced over at Jessica. "Have you been to the Capital yet? There's a Red Light District there. A real one! And there's a place called Hookerville outside out town, and the cops look completely the other way." Cops looked the other way in New York, too, but not like this.
