Re: Venus Envy: Jess & Hannah
Hannah watched the cupcake smooshing with fixed and attentive cornflower gaze. She'd never thought do pull the bottom off a cupcake and make it the top. It had never, never occurred to her, and a lot of things were like that for her. It took a moment, think and think and understand, and then she looked up and smiled at Jessica. The corners of her mouth tipped up and tugged wide, and there was the brightness of new things in her gaze. "Does it taste different that way?" she asked of the cupcake, awe in the words, and she reached for her own cupcake and licked along a shaft of icing with a laugh. "My coffee is really terrible," she said, finally taking a nibble of a round, icing-ball. "I think my coffee might start wars, but not civilizations."
She kept nibbling as Jessica looked around the store, and the blush that bloomed on Hannah's cheeks didn't make her any less direct. "Something for myself," she said, reaching for her own napkin to catch wayward crumbs. "Since I haven't met anyone out here that wants to have any fun with me." She hadn't been looking, and the statement was racy instead of weepy. She was smiling, and she gravitated toward a wall near the back. "Something new?"
