That hand outstretched warmed him.
James felt welcomed here, not outcast like he’d orignally thought. He was glad for it, radiating in the acceptance. Like Misha, James stuck his hand out and he shook, standing to do so like a real man. When the shake was done he let go of the other man and offered a single nod.
“I will. I’m glad to have met you, Misha. Thank you, again, for being so good to Nilus and for being so generous. You don’t have to.” But he’d wanted to and that was what made the difference.
When Misha left, James sat back down again. He closed his eyes and basked in the solitude. Basked in the cold and in the new life he had before him.
