Re: [B&B: Nishka and Atticus]
“I miss it too,” she said casually, of Chicago, “I finished university there, and joined my first firm. God, I was young then,” she sighed, remembering. She’d still been with Stephen at the time, back when they were happy together. Before everything went bad between them.
She nodded when he spoke of James, “you’re right, it’s just-“ and then she stopped short, looking up at him with wide eyes as her mind worked. Searching his eyes as realization dawned on her. “I didn’t mention there was anyone else…” she said carefully, watching him as she took a small step back. She thought back, pulled apart everything she’d said to see if anything could have pointed to a passenger, especially one who had died, but couldn’t remember saying anything about it to him.
’Because you didn’t,’ Loki said. ’I’ve had a feeling about this guy right away…he’s not normal, Nish. I can’t figure out exactly what it is, but…he’s not what he appears.’
She could feel her heart starting to beat faster again, and she looked Atticus over a little more closely. “How did you know about him?” she asked. It wasn’t as if she’d been especially hiding her reasons for being here, but as far as she knew, there was no reason for him to know what he seemed to know. She felt a chill travel down her spine as her mind started pulling apart possibilities.
