Re: [B&B: Nishka and Atticus]
Nish had been loitering in the hallway outside her room, first examining a painting on the wall, then one of the creepy looking dolls, when she heard a voice from somewhere downstairs. Her breath caught in her throat and she startled, looking up and around herself, but knowing the voice had been farther away than just behind her.
'You know, I heard this place is haunted,' Loki chuckled. She frowned and rolled her eyes at him, turning towards the stairs behind her.
"Someone else is up, that's all," she murmured to herself, "perfectly logical explanation."
'Uhh-huhh,' he chuckled. 'Hey Nish...'
"What?" she whispered, lowering her voice now to be barely audible as she slowly descended the stairs.
'Boo!'
She scoffed at him and shook her head, even as he laughed at his own joke. Still, it had had the desired effect - she was now grinning just a little to herself, privately grateful to have a trickster to keep her company.
Now on the ground floor she looked around for the source of the voice, seeing nothing but another quiet empty hallway. "Hello?" she asked quietly. She would never admit it aloud, but a tiny part of her was hoping the voice had come from an actual person, and that the rumours about this place hadn't started getting to her.
She turned down another hallway and then saw the light on, a room with the door open. An embarrassing amount of relief washed over her at the sight, and she sighed softly.
'Jumpy?' Loki asked, amused.
"No," she insisted, barely above a whisper, approaching the open door. Finally standing in front of the door, she spotted the man in what looked like an office and smiled softly at him.
"Hi," she greeted, not stepping into what might have been his private space, crossing her arms in front of her and glancing around the room. "Can't sleep either?" she asked casually.
