Re: log: louis/ren
"Risk/benefit analysis exists for a reason." He draped his coat across one of the barstools. To the bartender, he simply requested, "Gin and tonic, please." He didn't attempt to order for Ren. He'd always found such gestures annoying, personally, particularly when he knew nothing about the other person's preferences. Even if he did, it was difficult for him to imagine himself ever doing such a thing. Too forward, and he doubted too much to assume he would be successful.
"Chekov," he said, leaning against the bar. Well, this was nice. So Ren hadn't been kidding around about liking theater. "And Tom Stoppard. Mostly I like 19th century and earlier, though. I'm very fond of Oscar Wilde." He took his glass from the bartender with a light touch and a long-fingered hand. "Can't imagine why," he added, dry as a bone.
"I hope you saw many very bad university productions," he said with a smile, lifting his glass in a sort of cheers. Then, "Never." He took a sip of his cocktail. "I wouldn't have a leg to stand on. I've failed too many careers for that." Realizing how that sounded, he quickly added, "And you can go back to acting any time, can't you? That's the whole idea."
