To Sadie it was, as her Gram used to say: 'Love is Love Child', 'Dun'ae matter wha' shapes it take, long as everybody's happy in'it, s'what matters. Nobody's got any business stickin' their no parts in a love tha's not got a darn thing to do with 'em'.'
The words had been particularly important at the time they'd come and had surprised the whelp. Not that Sadie had really thought herself to be in love at the time, not by any stretch of the imagination, but being encouraged to be with whomsoever she chose? Well, that had been nice. She'd always been the sort to bumble over people on the individual level, finding the things that made them them, as it was, and it was what was there which set her innards all aflutter and light. She'd never once batted an eye at a soul who said they'd found that in someone, less so when they got it back and held onto it. To her, that was probably just about the best thing there was to be had and no small part of her carried a hope that everyone out their got it at some point.
So bright was it that it even managed to keep any flickering shade from dropping into her expression when he went on about the holidays and she just gave a slight nod. She gave him a confused look with what he said after though, but didn't seem none the shaken. Sadie didn't worry too much about trouble, not with what she could do and all, but she didn't want it to have to come to that. His offer to be a bastion in that moment? Well, to the wisp of a girl, that was no small thing he'd just done there and she nodded again, but this time with an air of seriousness.
"Aye then, good at hollerin' too, I am. so, hearin' it won't be no problem." She kept her response light and in tune with a direction less prone to bringing back her being jumpy. She'd just keep telling herself she could handle it and, if not, well she'd listen for the fiddler on the rooftop and trust in Whoever Almighty that he'd be there. It was a grand plan, all romantic in that grand, epic, stupid, way, The stuff of stories, it was, but those were the stories Sadie did like so.
She'd just keep right on smiling and thinking she'd be fine and she'd keep on being fine. It might not have been the truth every day, but Sadie might it so more times than not. Now, at least, she could say was one of the ones where it surely was. She was having a real nice time. She'd keep telling herself that too, giving herself little reminders she wasn't quite so awful at this as she tended to think.
Today had been good for her in a lot of ways like that. She'd made good money. She'd met a new person, dare she say made a new friend. She had a line on possible work. She'd had a really great conversation and two really good cups of hot chocolate now. She had snacks in case she got hungry later and just...it was top of the charts and that feeling came tumbling out with every word.
"You think? 'Cause that'd be just about the best, it would. I sure wouldn't mind doing stage shows under a tent, I think it sounds like a right bit of fun, honest." She gave a pointed and affirmative hum of a nod then. "But sure could do the wanderin' bit. I'll talk about tha' when I come around, maybe just wander around after I meet folks and play some music, see what the response is." Because really, even if it was just a day wandering around playing at a carnival? Well, that sounded like a great day to Sadie. And if it came with a place to stay?.
No-No. Best not to get ahead of herself just yet. Best to practice and be steady till then and come what may after doing her best.
"You can rightly say that'll be so." She added at the end with a smile, to his notion about group exploring. She hadn't even thought of something like that and, gosh if it didn't somehow perk her up all over again. Right to the point she wasn't even worried about where she'd be staying tonight. It was, however, a thing she didn't quite answer either.
The last thing she wanted was pity from someone whom she might work alongside. She'd get by till Monday and then she'd hope-on-hopes things would take that better turn. Till then? Sadie'd just do what Sadie did: Play her heart out for whatever landed in her case and get by just fine on that trade.
