Re: (2)
"I don't reckon Damian's head's that easy to turn with fiddling. He plays a real pretty violin," he said of his boyfriend, and Misha knew plenty 'bout folks not accepting gay loving real easy. He'd got his face beat in plenty in New York, and he got more than that beat here and in the Capital. It wasn't real easy, walking hand-in-hand with a boy, and Misha nodded his understanding 'bout her relationship with the preacher's girl. He nodded too at her mention of going to church, though he could tell something 'bout that made her dull some. But he couldn't read her well 'nough to know what, and he didn't push at the barrier that kept him from knowing. It was her private thinking, and he let her keep it.
He smiled 'bout the date being a lovely evening. "I hope it's real nice. The holidays were real filled with working and his family, and there ain't been a whole lot of time alone recent." He didn't go on to add that the town was strange as strange could be some. 'Stead, he just gave her a real direct look with them pale blue eyes. "You're welcome, and this town, it can be wild some. If you run into trouble, you just holler." It wasn't that he reckoned she couldn't take care of herself, but Repose could be real special at times.
That said, Misha took to listening to her tale.
His smile, that came real early on. He'd been to a Ren Faire once, and there was one came 'round the Capital when it thawed. He always did like them long skirts, and he could imagine her winning over a crowd real easy. She had the talent for it, and if he was 'nother sort he might worry over the competition at the Carnival. He didn't worry none, and he just smiled some as she talked. "If you did real well at Ren Faire? You'll do real well at the Carnival. If you ain't inclined to be under a tent, you can go 'round like performers at Ren Faire do." He nodded, real sure it was the right thing, this girl coming to work. "There's trailers and tents for folks that work. I ain't sure where you're staying now, but just know housing ain't a problem if you come 'long."
He stood and shook her hand. "You just say when you want to go, and we'll go. Might even get a group up and go wandering some." It felt like a real young thing to do, packing folks in a car and heading to the Capital to go exploring. "It was real nice meeting you, Sadie, and I'll pass the message 'long to Damian." He hiked his fiddle-case back up, and he gave her one last smile. "Good luck with your busking."
