Re: [The Mean Eyed Cat: Jack + Cat]
"Satisfaction is different for everyone, isn't it? Some people like to suffer, and they aren't happy without suffering." Was it an answer? Not really, but then it was, and Cat was never straight-arrow direct in her responses. Perhaps he was old enough to remember now, unlike young-him who hadn't understood at all. "You seem like you might be a man who becomes bored with being content, but perhaps I'm wrong. You tell me."
Ah, decades, wherever they were worn, they meant something. But it wasn't the decades in her eyes that concerned Cat. She chuckled at his professed loved for his wrinkles, and she didn't comment at all about her own. Was the world sexist? God, yes, and without a doubt. But it wasn't about the world, was it? It was about the mirror, and Cat would never claim to be lacking in vanity. "Distinguished." She scoffed. "Women don't get to be distinguished, but I believe that was your entire point."
She waved him off, and she moved to the till and began to close up. Notably, she didn't ask him for any money. A hefty tip, however, wouldn't come amiss. "It was a good visit," she said of Helena and certainty. "I think my people are finally settling in. Eddie's coming back to town." She didn't mention Stephanie's heartaches or Eddie's romance issues, because those weren't hers to tell him, but he knew Eddie and Karma's Bite, and it was telling that the riddled man in green was coming back to small-town life. "And holidays always make everyone more friendly toward one another, hmm?"
Another scoff as she closed out the drawer. "Oh? And what am I not? I love talking about me."
