Re: [The Mean Eyed Cat: Jack + Cat]
"Personal growth is terribly dull." It was. She wasn't even spinning a yarn like she did sometimes for whoever sat on the stools across from her at this bar. Some people wanted a person to listen, but most of them wanted to be told what they wanted to hear. An unbiased third party, and she poured out un-owned opinions with her drinks. It worked for her, but this wasn't Larry from the police station coming in with stories about his girlfriend again. No, this was Jack, and she had Jack hadn't been on very good terms recently, had they?
She tipped her glass to his, and she swallowed it down and licked her lips. She did hate vodka. Hate, love, and it reminded her of her childhood and all those years in captivity, but it was in her blood and in her being. There was no getting away from the part of her that had been forced to become Russian, and that was just how it was. Reece said she lived in the past, and this was a new leaf, an acknowledging that didn't require residence.
"Old friends?" The glass went down on the counter, and she waited for his to join it before refilling them both. "Does that mean you remember me now? Or aren't you there yet? I can't tell."
