Re: Nora's room - Gwen & Nora
That made Nora feel worlds better, actually. She wasn't super technologically savvy, so understanding the limitations of what her keeper could actually get gave her a sense of relief. There might be a way out of here for her, for real. Nodding, she took another bite of the doughnut and listened to Gwen again, now wholly focused on her and her story.
Six months? Jesus that was a short amount of time. "Damn, I feel like a real under-achiever now... Look at you, talking and giving advice and shit. At six months, I don't even think I could speak or walk or anything..." It was definitely a little strange to put that detail in perspective in Nora's mind. This was Gwen. Gwen was a friend, Gwen was sweet, Gwen was definitely a person and not property or an experiment. But she was also, technically, only six months old. This place is so weird.
"Ok, so you believe in what you're doing here. I guess I can get that. Harder for me to understand, but if you promise me you're not brainwashed or something, I can drop it...with the caveat that you actually do contact me if something changes and I happen to be out of this place, ok?"
And then it hit her. Damn. Leaving would mean leaving Gwen, the only person she could classify as a friend. It would also mean leaving Zach, which currently sounded awesome but also rang a little terrifying in her mind as the only other person she actually knew. She slowed her chew when the thought passed her mind, staring at the wall past Gwen's head as that fear set in and showed, visibly, in her face and eyes.
