Eddie remembered when Holly was much smaller and he had seen her learn quickly what took other Jersey born and bred decades to learn. Trinkets meant nothing. Eventually, diamonds and riches meant nothing. It was, ultimately, the few people that stuck with you no matter what. He had put meow face through that recently, but that wasn't to say that Cat had never done the same to him years ago. This family (not the Wainwrights but this family) had to prove it to each other over and over and that was just part of the deal.
Holly was unwavering about being in his life and Eddie appreciated it.
"I feel safer when I'm more to people. When I'm bigger than just Eddie. Then, I'm barely a person at all. I'm a legend, a public figure." He crossed his arms and leaned back to smile up at her. "I don't know if I actually want more. I mean, I need the thrills, but that can be found easily. In fact, I asked for it for Christmas and Santa is going to deliver. It's that easy."
