Re: [In-person: Patrick/Newt]
[Newt decided he probably ought not be mentioning 'boners' at all in Patrick's presence, so he simply laughed when the younger man clapped him on the back. It was very American, and Newt thought it was charming.—But, right, the occamies.] Oh, no. They're choranaptyxic. They grow—or shrink—to fit the available size of, erm, whatever they're in. So, they might become as small as mice in a mousehole, or—[Newt gestured about with a piece of meat, which made the occamy chick who thought it was to be fed cry out.] Sorry, darling, [he told the little thing, as he brought the food back to nipping mouth.] And you sound more like you mean a niffler, than a ferret. Perhaps they're cousins. I never thought of that. [He shook his head, however.] Dangerous? No, no. ['Dangerous,' of course, had a different meaning to Newt.] No. It's fascinating, really. I've seen a few grow to fill rooms. It's almost as if they don't realize how large they get. They're behavior, that I've seen, doesn't seem to alter greatly. [Newt, recognizing he was rambling a bit, bit off his words and gave Patrick a wry, if glancing look.] That's certainly better than denial. Denial leads to things like an Obscurus.
