Re: log: adrian and ren
Adrian shrugged on a coat as they left against the chill of the night, and watched with absent interest as Ren locked the place up. In a town like Repose, he honestly might have left the door open from now to tomorrow morning and come in to find the till full and not a cup out of place. Adrian did not suggest this approach, however.
He buried his hands in his pockets, dark fringe falling close to his eyes. That half-grin actually did penetrate, past layers of throbbing empty feeling. It was sweet. He could recognize that, even now. It was a kind offer, from a kind person, who obviously had troubles of his own. "Good," he said softly. "It is my chair." He just managed a small smile.
At times like these, it was difficult to accept that anything would ever feel any differently than it did now. Standing inside the hole, one could see only a sliver of the world outside. From here, however, that sliver wasn't a bad one.
"I'll buy more than one drink next time," he said. "I promise."
