"I think I can manage that." He cupped the tea in his hands without trying to sip from it, waiting for it to cool. It radiated comforting warmth, and he soaked it in, holding it close to his chest.
He liked watching Ren pull the espresso machine apart, watching him clean the clamps and nozzles. There was something soothing about that as well, in the satisfying way in which the pieces were made clean and reassembled neatly where they were meant to fit. "Maybe," he said. The conversation was academic, really, since he hardly felt in the mood for a good book lately, but it was nice to think of what he might want. "Or just broad history. The histories of courts can be interesting in that way, a large cast carrying through consistently, rotating in and out over the years of a reign."
He almost offered to help Ren as he leaned deep into the machine, not that he'd have the faintest idea what to do. "Anything. I'm not picky."
