log: adrian and ren
Truth be told, Ren felt for the man. It wasn't much fun to be jerked awake by a stranger, even if you were the sort that could fall asleep easily anywhere. Ren wasn't typically, but over the years he'd had his share of falling asleep odd places to be woken up by an apologetic flight attendant or something like. He was not an apologetic flight attendant, and would never have made a good flight attendant being entirely too large in height and overall physical stature to fit easily inside confined spaces for his job. It was the sort of physical presence that made for excellent stage work, but perhaps a bit intimidating anywhere else.
But now that he'd woken him up, Ren stepped back a step, offering space back to the lone remaining customer in the shop. His eyes took in the book, the still cup of tea - peppermint if he recalled correctly - and the smile on the man's face. Ren couldn't remember if he'd been in before or not. One of the difficulties with being in his own world half of the time was that he was terrible at remembering things like that, and remembering things like that in a new town where he really didn't know anyone at all, should have been a priority.
Of course, part of the reason he'd come here in the first place was to get away from people he knew for a while. He'd been here long enough though, that the motel was getting old, and he was beginning to wonder at the choices he was making in his life. He could have gone back to Europe - that would have gotten him distance from his family and maintained the possibility of working in theater - instead he came to Repose, where his parents technically owned a home and there was no theater scene and he was serving lattes and teas and macchiatos and living in a motel that had been decorated sometime in the middle of the past century, and not touched since. and perhaps a month or two into the experiment, he could admit it was getting a little lonely. In theory he could ramble on about more than books and coffee. In theory.
"You're not the first person I've woken up in this corner if that's what you're asking," Ren's lips quirked up into a half grin. "There's a reason I check it when I close." He took in the look of the man in a glance. It hadn't happened frequently though, not so frequently as he was likely making it sound. He nodded at the tea. "You want I'll warm up that cup of tea for you and put it in a to-go cup."
