[The letter is reciprocated, after some slightly startled blinking and a bit of contemplation. At least this nightly visitor didn't break anything, or leave any rabid dogs lying around. A little polite correspondence, if archaic, is a refreshing change. He's never been called 'Messr' before.]
He writes back on plain white paper. Tight script from a black fountain pen.]
Mr. Byrne,
I'm thrilled to hear of your interest. You say you will be making the town your home - are you already in residence?
I appreciate your concern heartily. I can happily say that the shop has now re-opened, with it, myself, and my family none the worse for wear. I do find myself watching for any fast-moving furry blurs now and again, but there seems to be no sign of any recurrence of the recent blight.
I'm afraid I lack a professional catalogue as such, but I can supply a list of unusual items, and if you are looking for anything in particular, you only need ask. The shop houses a very wide variety of objet d'art, from the vintage to a few items from antiquity. Outline your needs, and I'll see how I can supply them.
Sincerely, Louis Donovan
[One real nod to his recipient's apparent eccentricity - the letter is sealed, in red wax, with the store's name - REPOSE ANTIQUES.]
