Re: [En route: Janus, Steve, Atticus]
Atticus wasn't a nosy man. Didn't ask who Steve knew or spent time with. Didn't ask who Janus knew or spent time with. Assumed if it was important, if they wanted to share, that they would. Knew who Cat was, but had no idea what she looked like beyond Janus' explanation. Atticus didn't spend enough time in Repose to do much business there. Didn't drink in the bar. Didn't do groceries at the local store. Didn't visit the local bookstore or buy coffee in the cafe. Worked in the Capital and acquired anything he needed there. Which was all to say that he still didn't know what Janus looked like, but he knew that it was a woman Steve knew well. Also didn't realize that it was female Janus - Janis - in the woman's skin. Didn't consider that at all.
"Can summon undead. That's about all I'm going to be good for, but it might be useful. Get me mad enough and I guess I can tear someone's arm off." His smile was lazy, but the words were true enough. Wasn't expecting to do any combat, not with these two along, but put it out there. If he was needed, he'd help. Would rather sit somewhere with a book and watch the door and the clock, but was willing to help if needed.
Steve talked about Wildfire and the lack of trials, and Atticus felt a little like his dad as he leaned back to consider. Finger to his lips thoughtfully. Only moved his hand when the phone was passed around. Read in silence, then considered some more. Was a slow pondering, a glance out the window between thoughts and no rush. Looked back at Steve and Janus after. "Conundrum, isn't it? No trials. We don't know if Matt was hunting down innocent people for the government. Don't know if he's working with them or against them." Shook his head, confused. "Doesn't that seem to you like the kind of thing Matt would be all in for? Helping people who are being imprisoned without due process?" Hummed under his breath, which was his own answer to the rhetorical question.
The pilot turned on the light that indicated descent.
But, right. Here to help. "If I can be helpful, I will be. If I'm going to be a liability, then I'll sit home. Up to you, Cap."
