Re: leo/dawn deer rescues
[Leo was unaware that his actions were kind. There was a block in his brain that allowed him to believe or even see it. But, he saw kindness in Dawn and he had to keep himself from smiling up at her for it. The deer drank and then looked up at her with determination. While she was helping the deer, he checked its muscles, its nervous system, its heart beat. The deer was nervous, but there wasn't anything he could detect that meant rabies. He changed focus, looking over the deer's skin for any visible bite or scratch marks.]
I think she's okay. [He reached for Dawn's hand and squeezed her fingers. He stood and let the deer lean on him, searching the forest for an easy path. It felt like the barn was far away and the pillow fort? Was even farther. Leo momentarily wished he was a big, strong idiot that could carry the deer himself. Instead he was a whimpy detective with weird eyes. Yay.]
I've never tried to detect something magical, so this will be a fun challenge that might end in me walking face first into a barn. [He rubbed the doe's neck.] If that doesn't make you feel better little lady, I don't know what will.
