Re: Outside Music Store: Mathias & Claire
Claire wouldn't have minded talking more about it, but anything she said about the gulf at that point would have been a lie. She appreciated his tactful dismissal of the subject at hand, though there were few reasons she could think of that he would have gone to the middle east. Perhaps a soldier. She supposed he could have been a business man, but the reasons weren't all that important. They were here now, so they needed to enjoy here now.
"How big does one have to be in order to be interesting? Does the journey not deserve recognition?" Claire plucked the stone in front of her face from his fingers delicately and considered the small rock, "Even a mountain had to start somewhere." With a whip of her arm she flung the rock down the street, the pebble skittering out of sight when it bounced off the sidewalk and into the gutter. It may have gone a tad too far since the strength of the woman wrapped in that ugly army jacket was surprisingly deceptive. "And a mountain has to end somewhere, too. It doesn't make it any less interesting."
She took a deep breath of the crisp winter air before she continued, "Everything tells a story. From the smallest rock, to the largest skyscraper, to a man sitting on a bench in a t-shirt. It's all a matter of learning how to hear those stories." She tilted her head thoughtfully up towards Math as they walked, and her eyebrows raised in a challenging curiosity, "You watch people to see what is real, but you cannot do the same to the rest of creation?"
