Re: Outside Music Store: Mathias & Claire
"Our paths certainly wouldn't have crossed then," Mathias said easily, hiding his relief. He didn't have any wish to accidentally, or otherwise, cross paths with anyone he knew from one of his jobs. Especially not here. It wasn't so much that he cared about himself - he had the ability to deal with whatever shit was thrown at him. It was more that he had family here in town. Math went to extreme lengths to ensure that his games didn't come back to bite them. "You sound like you'd like to go back. I... would imagine it's probably changed a lot since your time there though," he warned. He would hate to think that she was harbouring feelings for something that probably only now existed in her memory.
Keeping pace with her as they headed down the street, Mathias cocked an eyebrow. "You telling me that I'm looking at things wrong? So, Claire - how should I look at things?" His question was sincere. That was something about Math, as narcissistic as he was, he was honestly interested in other people, who they were and their opinions about life. He thrived on getting to know others.
"Do I like carnivals?" he mulled over the question. "I find life is generally brighter there. Even if that's all part of the show for those that work there. For the patrons, though, it's different. I go to a carnival and I watch the other people. The way they let go. Stresses of life that lift off their shoulders. People smile more. They dance as they walk for no other reason than they felt like it. I like that. I like the chaos of life that you find there." He looked across at her. "What do you like about the ice cream shoppe?"
