Re: [Tea: Daniel/Claire]
It was understandable to have Tolkien described as a children's book. After all, it held no historical accuracies as fantasy for fantasy's sake. But Claire had been utterly fascinated and thoroughly impressed by the level of detail that had been used to create all the different languages of Middle-earth. There may have also been a kinship felt with someone who felt responsible to lead a quest handed down by their predecessors to save the world from evil. Maybe it was a good thing that Daniel thought of it as he did. She didn't need to have the talk about not being able to save everyone again.
Claire smirked fondly when he tossed the phone aside, delightfully amused by his frustration, and once he had the wine she picked up the phone to turn the music off. It took her a second or two seeing as how she had to try to circumnavigate the advertisement that had decided to move in and take up residence on her screen. She tossed the phone gently onto the table as she followed the direction of the wine he motioned with to the books. "For me?" Claire was lit up like the star of Bethlehem, and perhaps a bit too excited as she pulled the books into her lap.
"You remembered," she murmured warmly, as her fingers ran gently over the orange cloth-bound cover. Not that she was surprised he'd remembered. Claire was flattered that he'd given her thought outside of their talks. Especially considering that she still wasn't entirely certain if she was going to be chided for their forum conversation where she made mention of how she wasn't going to live much longer, or the contents of the tome she had wanted him to look after for her. Sometimes Daniel did not appreciate talking about rather unfortunate facts of their individual lives. Well, hers. Daniel took to his unfortunate facts like a warrior would a shield. The last time Claire had put a definite end point to the timeline of her life, Daniel had given her a look that she'd taken to mean she should not bring it up again. That night at Louis' seemed like a lifetime ago.
She flipped through a few pages to skim over the lyrical admiration of Selvaggia, a warm smile curling pleased across her features. "Have you ever felt this strongly for someone?" Claire glanced up from romantic stanza to turn her attention once more to Daniel with inquisitive eyes. She had a very narrow line of experience when in came to anything considered even related to romance and if it was anything as written within she wasn't sure she was even capable.
