Re: log: leo/dawn go on a walk
She smiled larger at his teasing, a comfort there as he slipped back towards that wonderful bubble they'd been in before, "Worse than any of that. She didn't get an invitation to my birthday party." It sounded like a joke, didn't it? Fairies were very petty beings, especially the ancient evil ones.
There were very serious issues he was admitting to, but she couldn't help the sweet smile that spread across her features and into the crinkles at the corners of her eyes. It was possibly one of the nicest things he ever said about her. "It can't rain every day, Leo." Her roiling little storm cloud. "You never have to stop looking. That is who you are. But you are not immune to having something good in your life."
It was a good thing he gave his permission for crushing, because it was a little late for that. "Like the princess," she whispered as he closed his eyes, and Dawn waited. The few moments stretched off into forever as she stood by for him to put the pieces together. She'd been told it was all a coma dream so many times, sometimes she'd actually believed that and the horror story the police had claimed she came from. Her expectation from Leo was skepticism at best.
Leo's eyes shot open, and she was still right there gazing up at him. There it was. See? He was smart as a whip.
There was surprise in his eyes, which who could really blame him? Dawn let her fingers roam down the side of his neck before she smoothed down his hoodie at his chest. "I don't know," she admitted. "I pricked my finger and woke up here. Probably some sort of reaction to the curse." A sigh slipped from her lips, a mixture of relief that he hadn't immediately told her she was crazy and an exhaustion that came from knowing how the story sounded. "Some days I don't think this place is real. It all feels like a dream." Especially the party. She may have even doubted the morning after if she hadn't woken up snuggled tight against him.
