Re: log: leo/dawn go on a walk
Leo looked down at his shoes and noticed another woodland creature scurrying up to check on Dawn. None of this made sense. There was no way she could have trained this many animals at random to show up on some kind of cue. Unless they were being released from their holding cages by people near by. He looked up and around, squinting through trees and bushes to find anyone nearby. No cages, no people. What the fuck was going on?
He turned to look at her. Her aunts were keeping her safe. "From what?" Leo mouthed, and watched the smile vanish from her face. This was all his fault, this was why he couldn't have nice things. His own paranoia of his past life of some child star that ruined people's lives was catching up with him. It mixed perfectly with a feeling like there was never going to be anything nice for him again. No one he could do something nice for. And, holy shit, was Dawn something nice.
"You're not giving me a chance to believe you." Leo whispered, pissed, but mostly at himself. "I'm sorry I'm like this, but you have to understand there are so many people out there who hate me. People who made money off of being charlatans and fakes that I exposed and ruined their livelihoods. You could be someone's daughter that I destroyed. Someone that wants to make me look like an idiot."
He looked down at one of the squirrels with big dark eyes looking pathetically up at them. He couldn't see the lie. There was nothing there for him to detective out. There was the pause and then he shook his head. "I want to get to know you."
