Re: log: leo/dawn go on a walk
Leo wasn't great at playing "good" detective. He was mostly empathetic towards people, but showing empathy wasn't a great way to get to the bottom of a mystery. One look at her told him there was something going on. Her pulse was racing and a flicker of "detective mode" let him see her heart pumping blood like she was standing on the edge of a cliff. He wasn't going to rule out actual fucking magic because this town had already proven that was a thing. But, there would always be that voice in his head that wanted to pull on any strings he could find.
She took her hand away and told him about living in the forest. "What woods? It was just you and your aunts? Why?" The questions were rapid fire. If she had ever taken the time to watch his show, they were just like how he was as a kid but without the playfulness that made it less intimidating. Past puberty, Leo had the ability to make people cry with this line of questioning.
"Squirrels don't do that unless they are trained or you have familiarity with one of them. This looks random, unless you brought me on this path to show off the squirrel thing because you knew it would get a reaction out of me. And why that would be, I don't know." Leo's shoulders shifted up and then way down as he could feel his heart plummet.
