Re: log: leo/dawn go on a walk
There was a fine line between being able to enjoy knowing what she remembered was real, and being absolutely terrified that people would find out. Specifically, the one person she was standing in front of. This reaction didn't precisely help quell those doubts in her mind, and she felt her pulse begin to race with that fear adrenaline when he wouldn't even look at her. He would figure it out soon enough. He was smart, and inevitably would read her story to those kids he pretended to hate. Maybe she should just get it all out in the open...
Dawn slowly withdrew the offer of her hand and her smile flickered the brightness down a notch, hoping that his question didn't mean he was going to ask more. She wasn't sure she could lie to him, and the truth was not something Leo would want to hear. "I didn't do anything. Animals have always been nice to me," and that was the absolute wide-eyed truth of the matter. "I lived in the woods for nearly twenty years. I barely spoke to people in that time. I made friends with the animals." That didn't explain that particular squirrel, but Dawn thought it made absolute sense.
She folded her hands in front of her like a proper lady would, and tilted her head in curiosity, "Have you never seen a squirrel do that before?" Dawn looked slightly bewildered, but for the most part she was honestly wondering. Squirrels had given her gifts all the time.
