Re: log: leo/dawn go on a walk
Leo looked at her like there was something to discover beneath her words, and Dawn gave him a wide-eyed innocent shrug, "I did." She wasn't quite sure if what he was saying was a compliment or not. "What do those people turn out to be like? Grumpy?" She smiled pure sunshine once more, before being surprised by the confirmation that they'd been taken advantage of. (This was a new concept that had been learned in the past few years. She didn't like it.) That's why you don't trust strangers. "Oh no!" The insects eating him was not a nice mental image. "I bet they restarted it after you left. They just didn't want to give you the pleasure." She shook her head in that 'absolutely not mad only disappointed' way that a ray of sunshine could give to selfish people.
Dawn didn't see him as some child star no matter the scale. She didn't see him as that cranky neighbor she'd been so desperate to please. He was Leo, and he was fascinating when he let people in. Besides, it was adorable when he tried to be that thundery little storm cloud only to have the sun keep peeking out with every one of his smiles. Like finding out that he'd been in love before. But she knew it was only a matter of time before he figured out who she was. He was too smart for it to remain hidden for long, and so this entanglement may have been a mistake. Dawn wanted him to know everything about her, but there was so much doubt that he'd accept her in spite of it.
She worried. It was only a second or two, but it felt like they'd stood there in the woods for millenia as he looked up and debated what she'd said. Maybe he was going to change his mind. Maybe he realized it was just leftover Peter Parker feelings. Maybe- Maybe... Maybe he was grabbing on to her hips and suddenly kissing her so that it took her breath away. Dawn wrapped her arms around his neck to pull herself even closer, and a soft, throaty hum slipped off her lips in appreciation as she drew him into one of those long and deeply sweet kisses he'd only been teased with the other day.
"Thank you for the flowers," she murmured against his lips with that dreamy smile of hers. A squirrel scampered down the nearest tree to them and stood on the ground nearby to look up at them as though it was patiently waiting for acknowledgment after the intimate moment. Dawn didn't notice the squirrel, since she was a little preoccupied with her fingers stroking light at the nape of his neck just under his beanie. She wasn't quite ready to let him go. He was so warm, and her heart was beating so fast. They could go back to walking in a little bit.
