Re: log: leo/dawn go on a walk
"Most people who grow up in the middle of nowhere don't turn out like you." Leo said, squinting like he was onto some new mystery. He had been to the middle of nowhere before and there was never a shy, lovely milk maid there like movies promised. Everyone was way too old for their own good, plain and judgmental. Dawn wasn't any of these things. In fact, Leo was starting to wonder how she even existed. "One time the professor tried to help out a garden that was mostly weeds and I was almost positive I was going to be eaten alive by insects." Leo smiled. "Once we cleared the land, they said they weren't that interested in restarting the garden. Complete waste of time and they knew it."
He smirked at the ground as she guessed right. Yes, it was a softball, but it gave her a couple different options of what she wanted to do. She could have focused on the love part, she could have pretended that him being in town for longer was truth. What he wanted her to do was guess correctly and be happy with the little bits of trivia he gave her. And of course, Dawn didn't disappoint. She gave that dreamy sigh and he stopped walking to face her. Leo sighed heavily, trying not to smile. His mouth wiggled as he tried to frown, but couldn't force himself to do it.
Leo nodded along with her statements and then grinned with those exaggerated Alexander teeth at her last two. He let go of her hand to put his in his pockets, pressing his arms to his side as his shoulders went up. Dawn couldn't be real, right? This was just some kind of elaborate prank on a C- list child star trying to escape everything in a small town? He looked up at the trees, listening to the birds sing. He thought well screw it and looked back at her. Leo reached for her hips, pulling her close as he kissed her like he was looking for another sugar rush.
