Re: log: leo/dawn go on a walk
"Yeah. We were home for a while between taping and I didn't have any friends. Plus, I think dad wanted to teach me responsibility." Leo gave her a look like he was making up his mind about something and then pulled his phone out of his pocket. He paused, holding it to his chest, over his heart. "What I'm about to show you is the lamest thing you've ever seen in your entire life." He said gravely and then swiped through until he found the picture. He tilted the phone so she could look: it was a picture of a black cat being carried like a baby over a little boy's shoulder. The little boy, dressed like he was going to Sunday church was beaming at the camera in a way Leo never smiled. But, it was clearly him. "The stupid teeth give it away."
He put the phone back in his pocket like he was sparing her from the cute childhood picture. Why did he show her these things? Why, oh why?
"Those were the luckiest rabbits on the face of the planet." He said about the ones she made a little garden for. "How old were you when you first started working in the garden? It was a Sunday habit for my dad and I. When we were traveling on shoots, we'd go help locals in their gardens." Leo wasn't an outdoors kind of person, but learning to grow a healthy garden was a good way to feel normal, even in a different country.
"The only person who gets to see my gentle side is you. I'm kicking her to the curb." He said about miss spoilers. He turned his head to look at Dawn and thought about kissing her, but he still wouldn't let himself be convinced she actually wanted that. Maybe he was just a pet project for her, a future friend or some crap like that. Maybe he was kidding himself here.
"There's a lot of ways to tell. I like to listen for their words to not match up. I ask simple questions. Was it raining that day? What time do you think you were there? What time did you leave? What color was the victim wearing? If they start to slip up, they're lying." Leo's way was blunt, like scraping ice off a windshield. "Want to play the two truths and a lie game?"
