Re: log: leo/dawn go on a walk
The woods brought Dawn a type of comfort that pulled at her soul. It wasn't home, but it was close, and it showed how secure she was amid the trees with every step. She really should have asked if he wanted to go to the hotel to check on his coworker. She should have. Spending some quiet time with Leo just overtook those thoughts, and all those dreamy little flutters he gave her were such an intoxicating pull.
Dawn gave him a rather unfortunate shake of head to let him know she hadn't heard any Loretta Lynn, but the peek into his younger life kept a bright smile on her face. "That's a good name. What were her parties like? Would you play her namesake?" Sometimes there was a flash of uncertainty when she was asked questions about her past, and this was one of those times. Not like she didn't remember, but that she was going to say something that was too much. "Me? Pets? No. I knew friendly animals, but never brought any home." Every animal Dawn had ever known had been friendly to her. "The closest was a pair of rabbits that would come around regularly, so I made them their own little garden to raid." Yeah, she knew how it sounded, Leo. Ridiculous.
His smile may have been sarcastic, but she grinned and raised her eyebrows knowingly. "Maybe she was," Dawn wouldn't have been surprised. "Maybe she was hoping to be the one going on a walk with you tonight." Her fingers wrapped a little tighter around his arm through his jacket, and she gave him a coy turn of eye that teased at jealousy.
She listened and her smile grew fond as he explained to her, "Have you ever had to deal with something where you couldn't go by crime scene clues? Where you had to employ other methods?" Really, he had a fascinating life, and she totally wasn't trying to slowly find her way into that coveted weirdest thing ever story.
