Re: [Carriage House: Janus/Atticus]
"Prefer bellbottoms to shoulderpads." Thought that was a no-brainer. Anyone with sense would prefer bellbottoms to shoulderpads. Was lost in reminders of bad early-90s hair, and then Janus' expression turned distant. Didn't comment on whether it was too late to reverse deals or whether they would argue over wolves and the full moon. Instead, looked at Janus with hazel eyes lined and turned curious. "What were you thinking about just now? Expression changed." Was probably polite not to point that kind of thing out, but Atticus wasn't precisely polite. And he knew Janus' subsequent 'I know' was bullshit, but he let the topic of war and gender go. Spent too much time on it, and Atticus knew it made Janus uneasy.
He smoked.
Leaned back in the chair and enjoyed every inhale. "Civilized wolves. What a thought. Careful, slippery slope to domestication, and we all know what happens to wild animals that become too tame." Took another inhale and exhale. Unapologetic, and then shoved his chair back and reached for the casserole. "Going to put this in the fridge and wrap it for later. Coming?"
Open invitation as the smoke curled upward from the cigarette ashing on the carpet under his feet.
