I hardly think that's true. It only takes a different view, micro and macro at once. A cell is a fundamental building block of life, and the smallest unit of such that can replicate independently. Evolutionarily, all life on earth began single-celled, or unicellular. We, as people, are multicellular. We are made up of billions and trillions. Blood is as well.
