Re: quicklog: leo's apartment leo/dawn
[His mouth went flat, lips turning at the edges in a smile that looked painful and bittersweet.] Thanks. [Leo wished he had his beanie on. It wasn't just a hat to wear to make him feel better, it was a literal comfort blanket he converted into a hat to make him feel better. Having some girl he had a moment with show him compassion and just be so fucking nice all the time made him wish for a way to put up a wall. Instead he just laughed and shook his head.] I was adopted by a man who was brilliant and kind and solved a thousand mysteries just by being logical. And, then he simply died in a car accident. I've [Leo shook his head and muttered:] I can't believe I'm talking about this. [Then he looked up at her again.] I've gone over the accident a thousand times, hoping it was someone trying to kill us. It wasn't. Just some freak accident I couldn't solve or prevent.
[Then he shrugged because that was that, right? If there's nothing to fix or avenge, you just have to figure out how to move on. Leo wasn't so good at it because he missed his dad a lot, but he was trying his best. Even if his best was reluctantly allowing a pretty woman to come over with homemade waffles.
He followed her over to the couch. The coma thing was fascinating.] You had no idea who you were before the coma? No family? [Leo could smell a mystery, but the way she talked made him think she either already knew or didn't care. What was her past life wasn't what her life was now.] See, that's what I can't stand about you. You wake up from a coma and you go play with sick kids to make them feel better? Weren't you pissed? Didn't you want to yell at someone?
