Re: [vade mecum: dylan/patrick/mary]
Mary was a woman of mystery by necessity. She used to proudly walk around her castle as Princess, complete with an expensive little crown. But, having to run for your life from an all powerful witch tends to change things. She was still proud, any idiot could see that, except she couldn't just announce who she was to everyone. Not just because she was sure the Evil Queen would find her, but because someone would surely lock her up in an insane asylum. The library gave her a different option.
She lead them to the back and pulled out a book that she had clearly hidden behind other old "folklore" anthologies. The book looked like it was made for children. She held it out in both hands to them. "We're going in here." Mary said with royal authority and glanced between the two boys. She opened the page and there were beautiful paintings of castles, dragons, princess and daring knights. She flipped through until she found her story.
The paintings of Snow White looked strangely like a younger version of Mary. She flipped through the story. The warrior queen who saved her kingdom, her strange illness, the step mother who took her place and then Snow fleeing into the forest. The next page? Was completely empty. Blank, like the author forgot to finish it.
Flipping past that page, they found a painting of a forest that looked dark and looming over it was a crumbling, abandoned castle. Mary looked up at them and opened her mouth to ask if they were prepared, but the book was getting impatient. Suddenly they were thrown into the dark, gloomy Enchanted Forest.
