[Bus Station: Atticus & Jani/us]
Who: Atticus & Jani/us
What: Visiting
Where: The bus stop
When: Nowish
Warnings/Rating: Charred demon?
Had been to the bus stop often enough that Atticus didn't need to think about the paces. Was night, late and cool, and he could've driven. Had a long trek down Main, but the lazy man decided he could use the time to think. Was unusual for him, deliberate physical effort, but hadn't been alone much with his thoughts recently. Assumed that would change now that things were calming down. Moon had passed, Janus was saved, Corinthian was gone, and the memories had faded. Wasn't sure how long normalcy could last, but felt like a reprieve was due.
Wore jeans that were faded. Wore a sweatshirt that proclaimed him a Georgetown alumnus in letters as faded as his memories of those college days. Old foam headphones covered curls that needed a trim, and the Stones played in his ears. Wasn't really listening to the music coming from the old Walkman tucked into the front pocket of his jeans. Was thinking about people. Was thinking about the people moving in and out of the Carriage House these days. Was comparing it to the relative isolation of his life before Repose. 40-plus years of silence, and now there were bodies everywhere. Bodies that were alive. Was a new experience.
There were other new experiences, too. The kind that would've been locked away in Restricted Sections during the literary periods he spent most of his time inhabiting recently. Those thoughts sneaked in between cracks. Rubbed at his bearded chin. Lit a cigarette, and the red-ember tip glowed in the night as he stopped in front of the station. Janus never liked it when he smoked, but assumed Janis would be the one inside. Was newly sure they would share the opinion, Janus and Janis, and was working on understanding what he'd seen in Janus' memory. Took few long sucks of the smoke, and then he stubbed it out and walked inside.
