Re: Holly & Tim: Outside Loot
[Yeah, Holly wasn't down with invasion. There was a major deal between giving secrets over and having them stolen. She didn't have a lot and secrets were kind of it. And this weird little town, it wasn't like the city where the weird lived out loud and proud. It didn't bond over fucked-up and crazy. It was pretending to be normal, and exposure was raw and Holly felt sick for the kid in the hospital long after the burn of the catheter had dulled to nothing, her eyelashes soaked-dark.
She hadn't made it all the way in. She was sitting with her ass in the entrance, and the cold of the ground puddling up through her shorts and momentary stoppage on this totally-going-to-be-okay journey up from a little kid's awful and she looked at red shoes and then up.]
Oh yeah. Having a ball. Can't you tell? [Her voice should have been raw, huh? All that screaming, but it was somebody else's throat and Holly rubbed fingers, chipped-purple against her throat and swallowed.] This is awesome. [She thumbed the damp off her eyelashes, defiant and flattened her feet against the sidewalk until her knees came up against her chest. The getting up part? That was a whole second order thing. First? Was scraping together the her part left over from a memory that was way more awful than she anticipated.]
