Re: Music Store: daniel/claire
Daniel put on a face of studied distress. "It's not fair to leave me to it on my own. And you already have more layers. It wouldn't hurt for you to shed a few. If I hug you without them, do I forget my soul and want to eat you alive?" He smiled, but it was a curious question. Meanwhile he took a sip of his tea, watching her over the porcelain, and maybe there was just a hint of fang behind his lips before the cup came up and then down again.
"Younger generations," the old vampire said, unbuttoning the cuff on the inside of his left wrist, "are always more ambitious. They can travel farther, and remember better the world they left. They get high and mighty ideas about influencing human society, as if it was worthwhile." He frowned, rolling his sleeve up into one elbow, revealing dark hair and very blue veins. "I don't like this idea of humans capturing the rest of us. They learn too much that way. And it's uncomfortable."
His eyebrows sketched upward. He started working on the other sleeve. "Since you what?"
"Then don't go," he replied, perhaps more firmly than he intended. "Stay here where it is safe. There are certainly is enough evil for you to fight without going all the way back to Europe, and there are enough fighting the old fight in the old places." Daniel put his teaspoon to one side in the definitive manner of someone born into giving orders.
