[Carriage House: Raven & Atticus]
[Had fallen asleep. Had slept hard, and if any memories had come Atticus was unaware of them. Didn't even remember finally falling asleep. At first, didn't realize what woke him. There were a lot people in the Carriage House now. Noise shouldn't startle him awake. Wasn't startled, precisely. Was awoken by some awareness, and he stood and put a pot of coffee on. Was a coffee drinker, and Atticus did this with heavy steps and a yawn. Scratched his stomach. Rubbed his curls. Leaned back against the counter in the tiny kitchen. Was still dressed in jeans and a faded sweatshirt. Could use a shower. Rubbed his jaw. Could use a shave, too.
A knock.
He realized that was what had woken him. A knock. A knock coming from low toward the bottom of the front door. Left his coffee mug on the counter and walked to the door. Looked down. Wasn't going insane, he decided. There was a knock coming from close to the bottom of the door. A strange knock.
Curious, he opened the door and kept his hand on the knob.]
