Re: adrian's room: adrian m/newt p
[Adrian's expression twisted into a small smile, conflicted, appreciative and bittersweet as Newt tried to comfort him while he tried to do the same. His warm breath ghosted over his chin, and he thought, too, about kissing him. He held back for a moment, resisting the urge. If he started - and he wanted to - he wasn't going to stop.] You're all right now. [He petted the nape of his neck, spreading his fingers through scarlet tufts.] I felt the same way about school. [There was color high in his cheeks from that flush of anger, red hot, melted as quickly away.] What happened before didn't matter anymore.
[He blinked, and he looked. He didn't mind that Newt didn't look back at him. He was too accustomed to it, still too thrilled by catching his eye by chance, catching him looking. It remained a surprise, a pleasant jolt of adrenaline. And when Newt wasn't looking, he could look on him himself - shamelessly mapping the freckles on his cheekbones, his almost invisible eyelashes.
He sank down a little, and he kissed him, slowly, almost chaste. His eyes moved beneath the fragile pane of closed eyelids. The memories were all in the past. Long gone. Even if it was only an illusion spun out in safe, dark rented rooms, the imagined feeling of being untouchable when they were alone descended on him. He could believe nothing would come between them anymore. Newt was stronger than most gave him credit for at first meeting, bending without breaking, adaptable. Perhaps he'd seen the seed of that, just now, or perhaps it was still more ingrained, just the stuff he was made of, strong while capable of being kind, and it made Adrian a little crazy for him. Newt could protect himself, but as far as he was concerned, he'd never have to do it alone again. If anyone touched him, he would tear them apart.
He kissed him again, on a surge in his chest like a bubble in his blood. Without thinking:] I love you. I love you. I -
[He glanced up, the color draining from his face, as his sense caught up with the rest of him.]
