Re: Woods: Patrick/Mary
[Patrick stared at the hand on his chest. Dude, this was entirely too surreal. An hour earlier, he'd been sure he was never going to hear from her again. Now, here she was, and she was real and touching him, and Patrick was bad at staying angry. He was pretty sure Webster would consider that a most serious failing, but the guy couldn't help it. It was hard to stay angry with someone who was standing right there. He was nearly done with that train of thought, and then she pulled away and said she believed him. He wasn't sure why she believed him all of a sudden, but he was willing to believe it was his most earnest declarations.] All right. Thanks. [But he gave her a disbelieving look immediately after.] My girl, you aren't the type to hurt people.
[He motioned to the woods.] Dude, kids do all kinds of things, and you know Shoshone had weird stuff going on everywhere. Not weird stuff like here, but people hiding and being careless, and anyone could set fires there. [He nodded at her.] You sound paranoid. [But, Patrick wasn't good at discounting people's fears, and he exhaled hard. He pinched the bridge of his nose. He was just about to make a most terrible offer.] Dude, we can find out who set the fires. How's that for resolution?
[And, dude was glad she didn't ask about the arrows, and he tried to figure out how to explain the woods without sounding certifiable.] Full moons, lady, are a thing.
