Re: [misha & jude: the capital]
[Jude knew well enough that Misha was well-intentioned and his belief was unwavering and self-evident as a lit candle in darkness. But it was becoming rapidly evident that Oliver had opened a divide that could only be closed by either Oliver himself recanting (which was unlikely) or Jude's own conviction being translated into a medium that overrode Oliver's plaintiveness until the boys were left alone to stitch it up between them or not. Given Oliver's inclination toward finding any way he could to shelter from presumed fall-out if it wasn't stitched up neatly and his wheelhouse lay in plaintiveness, this was equally unlikely. Jude was inclined toward keeping wounds covered up until they scarred or they were healed and the discomfort was thick, as if a private conversation or series of them needed to be conducted in an amphitheater with all of friends and folk around town taking a viewing. It made him decidedly less convincing or convince-able, given his overwhelming sentiment was that if Oliver wished to be heard, it was better still to be heard as Oliver, rather than preparing the ground through others.
Perhaps he'd gotten tired of the old cons, because Jude had no intention of playing Oliver any way other than straight. He folded up a conversation as inevitably messy as stained handkerchief to be tucked away for later. Misha looked as miserable as if not being able to repair broken pieces was statement on Misha's own self. He offered promise of leaving Oliver be, as if it were possible to separate once paint had been stirred into water, but Jude smiled in the absence of anything approaching conviction.
He followed into the last golden touches of the moments before evening and the reddish cast of the sunshine licked over Misha as if they were fond friends.]
We didn't have curtains, when I was small. My mother used to say something similar, sunshine. As if the whole world were shaken out fresh and if we hung curtains, we'd shut out the best of it. D'you mind if we wander before we go any particular location direct? Part of the fun of a city is finding parts you didn't know were there.
