Re: [UFO Tourism: Connie & Dahlia]
"Don't compare me to your parents!" Connie shouted, hurt by the insinuation she was as messed up as the people who "raised" Dahlia. "I'm not like that at all! I'm just trying to deal with him being an adult now! I'm doing my best and it's not good enough for anyone!! No one gets it!" She screamed and this time it sounded like a shriek that didn't belong anywhere in this world. People wanted her to just change on a dime because Repose decided now was the time for everything to get weird instead of just her. She was adjusting, but not fast enough for anyone and they decided to take it as her being a terrible monster who didn't let anyone have a choice.
"I'm doing my best, I'm trying to be what everyone needs from me." Connie whispered, almost like she was in a trance. Her parents never felt this way, she was sure of it. Her dad didn't care if his kids lived or died, her mother saw the world as a big picture instead of a small family portrait. But, Connie was a caregiver at heart. She wanted to take care of people, only to find out now that no one wanted that from her anymore.
Dahlia was closer now, pulling Connie close and whispering about how no one knew how things ended, not even time travelers and ghosts and skeletons. Connie nodded, the words blurring in her head. She didn't believe any of it and it was just another thing she had to act like she accepted to make everyone happy. Connie didn't understand why Dahlia was so close, why she hadn't run off by now. She looked up for some kind of explanation and suddenly felt Dahlia gently kiss her.
Time didn't stop, but it felt like it did. Connie had long buried her feelings for Dahlia, but here they were springing back up like fresh daises. She rose up on her toes, returning the brief kiss before rocking back on her heels and looking up at Dahlia.
