Re: [UFO Tourism: Connie & Dahlia]
"Pat's frustrated with me?" Connie honestly couldn't believe it, turning to look up at Dahlia. "Does he have any idea how much stuff I had to keep to myself when I was raising him? There's a whole list, a giant list of things I couldn't tell him while we were growing up because he was just a kid. And, I know he's not one now and I know he's grown up and taking care of himself, but he's asking me to change everything! This is worse than when he was a teenager." She blew a piece of white hair away from her face and pouted. "I'm not shutting down. I'm just- the world sometimes needs to be black and white and I need to just make the easiest choice to keep him safe."
Connie shook her head and turned away from Dahlia, heading outside into the desert heat. The dry sun beating down on her felt like a foreign thing. There wasn't the comfort of the trees that so much of Repose used to hide. There was just sun and sand and a lone cactus with a bird on it.
Once Dahlia followed her out, Connie snapped her sunglasses on and turned to look at her friend. "Next time he starts complaining to you about me? Tell him you want to stay out of it." The sun above encouraged her to be angry for a second and it felt good. Connie never got mad if she could help it, but she had this deep running stream of anger that was waiting for its chance. Wasn't part of being on a road trip letting it out where no one except your best friend can see it?
