Re: [Taxi: Cat & Jack]
I wouldn't know. Parents weren't in large supply where I come from. But, you and Newt are very different. I'm not particularly interested in nature vs. nurture, but I'm sure there's a case to be made there. Anyway, Bruce and I failed at parenting. Helena hated us when she had all her memories, and she's coming to hate us now that she doesn't have them. She hates everyone in the family too, all of her many siblings, and that's just another repeat. I don't think you can run away from truth, Jack, even when it's forgotten. [Another lift of careless and elegant brow. Oh, well, there was only so much she could do, and she wasn't going to become bitter and miserable about it all. Bruce? Had misery covered at this point.]
If your brother's a writer, it's about content and not words, Jack. You? Are about words. Even I know that, and I've known Newt all of five minutes. [But her smile, when she gave it, was genuine.] He's nice, and so are you underneath all that acquired Jack. Talk to him. He might surprise you, even if he can't understand why you do the things you do. Anyway, learning new things about someone you care for is always interesting. Ask to meet Bob. It's not a bad place to start. I'd be happy to run interference, if desired. [But his comment about Bruce being dull, it was an echo and it made her chuckle.] Bruce is stoic. And it's alright. She was miserable and thought everyone disliked her. I suppose it should be heartening to learn that wasn't the case. I'll make sure to tell her if she ever comes back around.
[She sighed.] I suppose I'll need to look into that soon.
