[Cris wasn't oblivious to the fact that the gringita was watching his face, huh? He wasn't UC and he wasn't playing a part, so it didn't matter so much that he was making sure he was expressing the right thing. Which ain't to say it wasn't important what he was expressing now, huh? 'Course it was. But, he knew what it was. How many semi-feral kids had he approached on the streets, even the streetsa Repose, at this point? Lots. And the patience and earnestness, they were real. And he knew, with people who didn't have a lotta choice in life, giving 'em some, that was good. So it was what he tried to do.
